Hate is a strong word....

Hate is a strong word and there is a lot of it in our country. I recently visited the church history site where so many members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints endured much persecution. Reading a post yesterday from my niece Jackie I had to post these. The persecution is not over. Recently Proposition 8 passed in California. Members of the church, along with the rest of California residents voted. And it passed. Mormons do not make up the majority of California, yet the majority of the state passed Proposition 8.

Our church does not hate people who choose to have a different lifestyle than us. We love all people. All we did was stand up for what we believe. And we believe that marriage is between a man and a woman. While those who disagree with our church's position on Proposition 8 have every right to express how they feel....this is unnecessary, and it makes me cry.
Can't we all just get along?

Thanks Jackie for the post.

Wow, those were hard to look at. It is really sad that people can't find positive ways to disagree with us. What a tragedy

Yeah, and only 2% of the California population is a Mormon. And all they did was vote! It's really awful!

aunt Lori, it just brings tears to my eyes also how many times have the mormons taken on so much blame for so many different issues. I read the Proclamation to the World and I see that what we believe is simply the family is our center, how sad this is to see damage to churches, and all these terrible messages. We must continue to pray for hearts to be soften.

Another sign of the times; all we can do is Love them and move forward. HATE is not a part of us. We know they simply don't understand the big picture. FAMILIES ARE EVERYTHING and the sanctity of the “Marriage Covenant” is a precious truth we cannot compromise on. We can LOVE, we know how to do that!

My sister in law just posted a protest that was at the Spokane Temple. The weather was bad, they told one of the high coucilers that they wanted to be peaceful. They were peaceful and as soon as they talked to the TV and the Newspaper, they left! They were also going to be at the Columbia River Temple. They will be at the Seattle temple on Saturday, I guess I won't be there when I go see my friend. Sad times.

It makes my heart hurt, and yet I know that this is just the beginning...

It's so sad. I can guarantee that if Proposition 8 had not passed, Mormons would not have reacted in the same way. Who are the real haters here?

It is so important for all of us to stand up for what we believe in. We need to remember Edmund Burke’s statement: “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing.”

I usually listen to a lot of talk radio and watch a lot of news. Lately I have had to just turn it off. All this back lash has just really hurt my heart. I feel like there are a lot of hateful feelings towards us when the feeling is not mutual. I love those people. I pray there hearts will heal.

I love Brigham Young's quote, "Every time you kick 'Mormonism' you kick it upstairs; you never kick it downstairs. The Lord Almighty so orders it."

These sad outbursts can't help but make me excited for the possibilities!
